Photography Books » Yuba Seasons hardcover book The photographs in this book capture some of the seasonal changes that occur throughout the watershed of the Wild and Scenic South Yuba River located in Nevada County in California. These photographs were taken over a period of thirteen years and are part of my larger body of work on the Yuba, which dates from the early 1970's. It was a conscious choice not to arrange the photos strictly by the seasonal category. With such a progression, one could expect what would come next. Rather, the images are laid out to complement each other in a broader sense, with composition and color qualities considered as well as seasonal characteristics. These juxtapositions keep the book visually stimulating and pleasing to the eye. The South Yuba River is my fountain of youth. I feel refreshed and invigorated when I’m there. This book includes sweeping panoramas of the Yuba as well as images highlighting the play of light on water and rocks. I am always amazed by the patterns created from light passing through the surface tension of water. I have worked for many years to capture that life and energy on film. I believe I have succeeded with the photographs in this book.
